Jesus Needed Sleep…And So Do I

My morning started about 1:30 a.m. when my cold woke me up, and I was unable to go back to sleep.  So I started organizing homework assignments, doing work, and hearing my dog snore.  Yet, I am very aware of how most everyone I know, at least in my time zone, is asleep right now.

But God never sleeps.  Jesus, fully human and fully divine, needed sleep and rest, and so do we.  I am comforted to know that my savior needed moments away from the crowds to be still and to be with God.  I am encouraged that Jesus had to sleep.  He could not be like the Engergizer Bunny and of course neither can I.

Despite constantly blowing my nose, I have so much for which to give thanks.   I am thankful that God never sleeps and that He will never leave me.  I am thankful for plenty of Kleenexes, orange juice, and medicine.  I am thankful for the prayers of family and friends who pray for me every day.  I am thankful for Adam who is asleep right now so he can be well rested to help me with all my responsibilities at church tomorrow.  I am thankful for the children in my life who remind that God’s love continues, even at 4 a.m. in the morning their smiles come to mind.

Well, I’m off to hopefully fall back asleep!

Feel free to leave comments: What helps you fall asleep?  What is your favorite homemade remedy for a cold?
